How Healthy Is Your Church? (Sessions 1,2,3)
Class Description
Locations: Trinity only
Hundreds of workshops and seminars are conducted each year in the area of Church Growth but very few are addressing the critical concerns of Church Health. This seminar will help church leaders discern and discover the healthiness of their churches. If they are healthy, growth will naturally happen. You see, we don't have to command our kids to grow. If we provide them with a healthy environment, growth is automatic. If growth is not happening, it means something is wrong, because it is the nature of all living organisms to grow. The church is a living organism and it should be healthy and growing. Who should attend: This seminar is especially for pastors, lay leaders, church officers and members-at-large in any congregation. This seminar embraces the belief of the priesthood of ALL believers.

Journaling: Piling Up Rocks in the Wilderness (Sessions 1,2,3)
Class Description
Locations: Grace
Seems like every time something important happened in the Hebrew Scriptures, somebody would stack up a pile of rocks to mark the spot. How do you "mark the spot" when important things happen in your life? A marriage, a birth, a death, and encounter with God? Journaling is one way of remembering – marking our trail through life. Ken Roughton is no expert at this, but he has been experimenting with it for most of his adult life, and will be sharing what he has learned.

Instructor: Ken Roughton
Click for Bio

Ken was born in Lexington, Kentucky where his father was completing his last year of graduate work at Asbury Theological Seminary. The family moved to Florida when Ken was 9 months old, so he feels like a native.  Following in the footsteps of his parents and grandparents, he went back to Kentucky to attend Asbury College and Asbury Seminary.  Upon graduation he and his wife Sandy moved to Florida where they have served on staff at five different United Methodist churches.  Ken has been the pastor of First UMC Boca Raton for the past 17 years and says he is just getting started. Ken started journaling in the waiting room when his first child was born. John Wesley's journals inspired him as well as his Grandmother's (now lost!) journal from their around-the-world trip in the early 1900's. He frequently shares thought provoking and touching entries with his congregation and others.

This workshop will explore the creation of effective dramatic (and comic) monologues based on biblical characters. Queremos Dialogar Sobre Estos Temas (Sessions 1,2 and 3 combined)
Class Description
Locations: Grace only
Three part class that continues for all three sessions
